The Gibraltar Amateur Athletics Association is planning a larger than usual sports meeting this evening, commencing at 6.00.(assemble at 5.30) to celebrate the IAAF World Athletics Day (WAD).

In addition to the increasing number of young sports boys and girls who have been attending the Stadium for Track and Field through the past few months, the schools have been approached and have signified heir intention of fielding teams in advance of the School Sports day season.

Middle Schools – St. Anne’s, Bishop Fitzgerald, St. Joseph’s, Sacred Heart, Loreto Convent, and Westside and Bayside Comprehensives.

It will also be an opportunity for Gib.’s athletes preparing for the Island Games.

Boy & Girl races at 800mtrs., 200mtrs., 100 mtrs and 400 mtrs.

Tonight’s meeting will conclude with the 4x 100 mtrs. relay races. It looks like being a great evening’s athletics, involving a lot of people – and quality.

The GAAA’s Field Events concluded last week with the High Jump. A large number of youngsters assembled to leap over the bar.
