CHRISTIAN HAS THE WOW FACTOR!
by Alice Mascarenhas
ROCK’S STAR: Christian Fa wins the Wow Factor.
Gibraltarian singer Christian Fa won the Wow Factor competition on Sunday night up the Coast. In front of a panel of celebrities including X Factor finalist Rowetta Satchell, and Dancing on Ice judge Jason Gardiner, Christian performed two songs ‘Feeling Good’ and ‘That’s My Goal’ which won him acclaim from the audience and the judges alike. It proved a great night for all the singers who had made it into the final from the Gibraltar heats. Christian was joined in the final six by Corinne Cooper, well known in local music circles, and Rebecca Tate from Sotogrande.
The theatre ‘Sala Fortuna’ in the casino in Torrequebrada provided a high-tech show organised by the Wow Factor (in its second year) with its executive producer Maurice Boland from Talk Radio Europe hosting together with Hannah Murray.
The 12 finalists, which also included another local Laura Diaz, were presented with ‘X factor’ style comments much to the approval of the full house.
The judges were obviously impressed with the talent from the Rock which prompted one of the judges Laura Krier, host of ABC Radio Network’s radio show ‘Fame Game’ to say “I’m moving to Gibraltar”.
Rowetta at one point told Christian Fa, “you are better than the X Factor”. All round the judges felt that the standard of all the finalists was “huge”.
Christian Fa told the Chronicle moments after he had received his award that he just could not believe it.
“I am just so happy and so proud to have achieved this,” he said.
Christian’s prize was to record a CD. The song chosen for this CD is the old Bill Wither’s number ‘Lean On Me’ which was sang by Rowetta on the night.
But there was one more Gibraltar surprise at the end of what had been a most entertaining night – when nine year old Tiffany Ferrary performed ‘For A Moment Like This’ receiving a warm welcome from an already excited audience. Tiffany is certainly a voice to look out for in the future!
The Wow Factor competition was again held to help raise funds for the charity Fundacion Cudeca.
