NETTO GIVES SCIENTIFIC REVOLUTION LECTURE

The Gibraltar Philosophical Society says that the postponed lecture by Government minister Jaime Netto on the Scientific Revolution, which was initially scheduled for the end of October, will now take place this Friday 27th November at 7.30pm at the John Mackintosh Hall.

Mr Netto will examine the historical scientific changes taking place throughout Europe between 1500-1800. Starting with Nicholas Copernicus, who asserted a heliocentric (sun-centred) cosmos and moving on to Isaac Newton, who proposed universal laws and a mechanical universe, among the many topics to be covered will be key developments in Chemistry, Navigation, Physics and Applied Science.

The lecture is open to all members and those wishing to become members. Those wanting more information are advised to contact the society on: gibphilosophy@live.co.uk
