THREE MEMBERS OF SAME FAMILY SERVE ON THE ROCK

To have two members of the same Forces family serving on the Rock would be a coincidence – but to have three really is unusual. AB Logistician Charlotte Lewis is now working at the Tower whilst her brother Antony Lewis and their sister-in-law Anne-Marie Pearson are both at the Princess Royal Medical Centre.

Petty Officer Medical Assistant Anne-Marie was the first to arrive a year ago. ‘I was asked if I’d work outside the UK,’ said Anne-Marie. ‘I said “Yes” and I here I am. I enjoy my job and I enjoy being in Gibraltar.’

Antony, a Medical Assistant, is the only one of the three who actually requested a posting to the Rock. ‘I’d visited Gibraltar when I was on board HMS Northumberland and I quite fancied a posting here,’ said Antony who works in the A&E Treatment Room’. While Antony was waiting for his posting to come through, his younger sister Charlotte found herself drafted into the Tower at short notice last month to replace another girl who had asked to be moved back to UK. ‘I’ve only been here a few weeks but I’ve already started a ladies rugby team and I’m enjoying helping out at the local kennels,’ said Charlotte. Apart from rugby, Charlotte has also represented the Navy at Hockey, Lacrosse and Cricket and, next month, she is off to Lillehammer, Norway, to represent the Navy in the

Inter-Service Bobsleigh championships.

Not surprisingly, the Lewis family in UK are planning to visit Gibraltar this summer to see not only their son and daughter, their daughter-in-law and the next generation of the Lewis and Pearson families. Antony and his wife, Sarah, have two children while Anne-Marie and her husband Darren have three. Unusually for Forces children, the children see a great deal of their cousins. ‘It’s really good for them because four of them are at school together,’ said Anne-Marie.

‘And it’s lovely for me to be able see so much of my nieces and nephews,’ added Charlotte.
