Local pressure group Voice of Gibraltar has declared that if the Mayor of La Linea Alejandro Sanchez ever implements “payment to enter into our home,” they would mobilise the people of Gibraltar “to go to the frontier” and “block traffic and pedestrians from entering and exiting the Rock.” In a statement to the Chronicle, VOG accuse Sr Sanchez of hypocrisy since on the one hand he has advocated friendly cross-border relations with Gibraltar but then has proposed stricter frontier controls and a toll system for cars entering the Rock.

A VOG spokesman said to the Mayor: “Mr Sanchez should be aware that thousands of Spanish workers come daily to earn a living. Do not use Gibraltar as an excuse because of the problems you have in La Linea.”
