Les Mis Concert for St Michael’s Cave
The Calpe Rooke Band together with a cast of home grown talent will be presenting the musical Les Miserables in Concert. This follows from the success of last year’s Last Night of the Proms which was held at the Alameda Open Air Theatre.
The show will be based on the 10th Anniversary Concert of one the world’s most successful musicals. The Calpe Rooke Band production will be held in St Michaels Cave over two nights - 11 and 12 May starting at 8pm.
“To our knowledge, this is the first time Les Miserables has been held in a cave,” states Chris Music, the Band Master and Director.
“We have been rehearsing flat out since the auditions were held back in October 2011. The band, principals and the chorus will be working hard right up to the performances to perfect what will most definitely be a show not to be missed.”
The show is expected to run for well over two hours plus a short interval for refreshments.
A short promotional video of The Making of Les Miserables in Gibraltar, viewable on YouTube, has already received viewings. According to the press statement this has led to enquiries from around the world for tickets even before they have gone on sale.
“The Gibraltar Tourist office in London has been taking enquiries and even EasyJet have asked to promote the show in their in-flight magazine for April.”
Tickets are now on general sale and priced at £15 which includes the cost of the coach transfer from the Alameda car park.
Tickets are available locally including at Sacarello’s Newsagents in Main Street.
