Jessie J Olympic finale, then Gibís first mega concert

Jessie J will perform on the Rock headlining Gibraltar’s first Mega concert in September.

And she is expected to perform tomorrow at the Olympic finale.

The closing ceremony for the London 2012 Olympics will be “an after show party” celebrating British music, according to organising chief Sebastian Coe.

A number of pop groups have been photographed at rehearsals including the Spice Girls, George Michael, the Pet Shop Boys, Jessie J and Tinie Tempah.

The announcement for the Gibraltar concert was made yesterday by the Ministry of Culture as part of the Gibraltar Music Festival, which will be staged at the Victoria Stadium on Saturday 8 September. Also performing is Ali Campbell’s UB40. Three local acts will also feature. They are Noiz, Jetstream and Atomica 4.

The Government statement said that delivering the Rock’s first Mega concert was a manifesto commitment and the Government was confident the line-up would appeal to a wide cross-section of Gibraltar.

Jessie J has had massive hits with ‘Price Tag’ and ‘Laserlight’ and is the first British female artist to have had six top ten singles on one album. She was also a coach and mentor of the television show, The Voice, which was shown earlier this year on BBC.

Ali Campbell toured the globe for 30 years as the lead singer and founding member of UB40, selling over 70 million records worldwide. Hits include ‘Red Red Wine’, ‘Please Don’t Make Me Cry’, ‘I Got You Babe’ and ‘The Way You Do Things You Do’.

Further details are expected next week. The Gibraltar Music Festival is being organised by a management board and the Ministry will be collaborating with the board and will provide assistance as required to ensure the smooth running of the event. Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday the 15th of August.
