Caruana to step down

Opposition leader Peter Caruana, GSD leader since 1991 and Chief Minister from 1996 to December 2011 is to stand down from the leadership in a fortnight and then politics, though he remains an MP for the time being.

Mr Caruana said he would stand down as Leader of the Opposition and the party at the end of this month and “thereafter, and until internal party elections for a new leader are held, my deputy leader, Daniel Feetham, who has shown great courage, commitment and competence, and in whom I have every confidence, will assume those responsibilities.”
