Unsafe palm tree to be removed from Cathedral Square playground

A tall Date Palm at the Cathedral Square Children’s Playground is to be removed after a routine inspection found a cavity that has made the tree unsafe.
The playground has been closed and the tree will be felled.
The palm is believed to be well over 100 years old and is one of the tallest in Gibraltar.
It will be replaced with a well-grown specimen of the same species.
