Crack down on noise and pollution, Chamber tells Govt

The Chamber of Commerce has called on the Gibraltar Government to impose harsher conditions on contractors who breach noise limits at construction sites.

In its annual report the business network highlights a number of environmental issues including how noise levels in Gibraltar have increased enormously in recent years.

Most data collected and published by the Government’s Environmental Agency relates to traffic noise along the main thoroughfares.

But significant noise is caused by all the construction sites around Gibraltar, the Chamber said.

When building permits are granted for a new development, certain conditions are usually imposed by the Town Planner.
