'Stolen cars' land two in court

Two Moroccan nationals suspected of being part of an organised crime group have been charged with handling stolen vehicles.

The 53-year old man and 40-year old woman of Ksar El Kebir in Morocco jointly face three charges of handling stolen goods and appeared at the Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The alleged stolen goods are two Moroccan registered number plates and two cars, a Volkswagen Tiguan and Dacia Duster.

The pair were challenged by Royal Gibraltar Police Special Branch officers and a Borders and Coastguard Agency officer at a local car park over the weekend.

Both vehicles were impounded pending further enquiries and according to the police have been reported stolen in Cádiz and Getafe, Spain.
