UK Electoral team praises work of Gib Referendum team

During the Parliament session yesterday, Speaker Adolfo Canepa, made mention of a letter received by the Clerk of Parliament, Paul Martinez, praising the way in which the Referendum and Count had been conducted locally. Mr Canepa spoke of the “very high regard” in which the team was held by the Electoral Commissioner in UK.

The letter received by Mr Martinez, he said, as Counting Officer of the Referendum, was from the Chief Counting Officer of the Electoral Commission in UK “a letter of thanks and of high praise not only conducted by Mr Martinez but his whole team” for the “smooth manner in which the whole of the Referendum was conducted and Count afterwards”.

With sounding approval from the floor, Mr Canepa, said the Members of Parliament would not doubt welcome the fact that Gibraltar can “rise to the occasion and carry out a task to such great satisfaction”.
