Gibraltar targets Asian shipping

The Minister for Financial Services and Maritime Services, Albert Isola, accompanied by CEO and Captain of the Port, Bob Sanguinetti, led a delegation to Singapore and Hong Kong.

The visit formed part of the Government’s continued campaign to raise the Port of Gibraltar’s profile and to aggressively market the broad range of services it delivers globally.

Mr Isola hosted an official reception at each location, and met senior maritime industry executives, ship owners and operators.

He said: “I am very encouraged to have led a strong Gibraltar team of professionals from the maritime services sectors on this trade mission to Singapore and Hong Kong. This visit established new professional contacts and followed up on and capitalised on our previous visits to a region which we remain committed to.”

Commodore Sanguinetti also met key stakeholders in Singapore and Hong Kong, supporting a contingent of Gibraltar based bunker suppliers, shipping agents and other service providers.

He said that the “Government of Gibraltar is highly supportive of the shipping sector, a pivotal contributor to our economy, and we will continue to work closely with the committed professionals in the industry, to assist the Port develop solutions and initiatives, in order to provide an even better service to the international shipping community.”
