Bassadone Automotive Group recently donated £500 supporting Lt Col (Rtd) Mark Randall’s charity walk to Jerusalem.

Raymond Grech, from the company, presented a cheque to Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Ivor Lopez.

Lt Col (Rtd) Randall is currently walking 8,000km’s from Gibraltar to Jerusalem in aid of four charities; The Royal Gibraltar Regiment Benevolent Fund, GBC Open Day, Tarourarte Education Charitable Organization and Por Una Sonrisa.

Lt Col Lopez said: “I am immensely grateful to the Bassadone Automotive Group for their generous donation in support of Lt Col Mark Randall’s incredible walk from Gibraltar to Jerusalem.”

“The challenges that Mark is facing daily since he set off on the 1st April are all the more impressive when one considers that he is completing his walk unaccompanied, with no support staff whatsoever and in unforgiving, arduous conditions which will test him both physically and mentally.”

Mr Grech, a former Warrant Officer in the Royal Gibraltar Regiment, approached his Human Resources Department to see if the company would support the charity walk, and was thrilled with their positive response.

He said: As soon as I approached our HR department they immediately said they would support this walk and donate a cheque of £500.”

“They even allowed me to place a couple of collection tins around the different offices to collect any “pennies” from the staff. These collection tins are slowly but surely filling up, and as soon as they are full, I will also hand them over to the RG.”
