Final preparatory work ahead of the Three King’s Cavalcade was underway over the past week, with 17 floats set to take part in this year’s parade.

This year, in a change of the norm, the Cavalcade will stretch until the end of Main Street up to the John Mackintosh Hall.

Some 17 floats are set to participate in the Cavalcade, including five “walking floats”, according to the President of the Cavalcade Committee, Eric Abudarham.

Staff from Gibraltar Cultural Services will be handing out sweets just before the event, which starts at 7.30pm on January 5.

The walking floats include the Gibraltar Regiment Band, the Sea Scouts Band, the Gibraltar Corps of Drums and The Three Kings.

The event will set off from Casemates Square, through Main Street and up to John Mackintosh Hall.

People are recommended to view the Cavalcade from no further than King’s Yard Lane as the lay-bys by John Mackintosh Hall will be used to unload some of the floats.

The Cavalcade has gone from strength to strength over the past couple years due to recent efforts to improve participation.

Mr Abudarham thanked the Government and the GBC Open Day for their funding. He also thanked the Office of the Chief Minister for their help.

He added the Committee has purchased new trailers for the Three Kings.

A covered area has also been provided for those building their floats at the Midtown Coach Park.
