Mobile phone users had roaming problems on Wednesday when trying to connect to Gibtelecom’s network.

The problems arose as a result of an issue affecting one of the international providers who route this traffic abroad, the telecommunications company said.

Late on Wednesday night the problem was resolved with the company taking to social media to inform users: “Roaming services now working normally. “

“We’re aware that some mobile customers travelling abroad have been experiencing issues this afternoon with their voice and data roaming services in certain countries.”

“The issue was with one of our international providers who route this traffic abroad.”

“We have been working tirelessly with all our international network partners to reroute this traffic as soon as possible.”

“All roaming services should now be working normally. We apologise for the inconvenience.”

Some local numbers also experienced loss of 4G shortly after the Gibraltar wide power cut that morning but phone calls to the 194 number resolved issues for those affected.
