Jail for man who filmed beach girls

A man who was challenged by angry beachgoers after he was caught filming young girls in Catalan Bay was yesterday jailed for six months.

At a sentencing hearing, the Supreme Court heard how the 29-year old man, a resident of La Linea, made numerous video recordings of two 12-year old girls because he wanted a “permanent record of them rather than relying on his imagination”.

He pleaded guilty to one count of outraging public decency and was also made the subject of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for a period of five years.

Outlining the facts of the case, prosecutor Robert Fischel, QC, described for the court how the man had surreptitiously filmed the girls on his mobile phone at Catalan Bay beach in May of this year.
