Over 2,000 winter jabs administered as vaccination campaign continues
The GHA has administered 2,100 seasonal flu and Covid-19 vaccines since its winter booster programme was started on October 3.
The programme continues in full flow and those eligible – currently people aged 50 or over, and those who are vulnerable or have underlying health conditions – are being offered an appointment.
Dr Helen Carte, the Director of Public Health, said she was pleased with the take-up to date.
“We can confirm that no serious side effects have been reported other than what we would anticipate such as a sore arm and feeling feverish for a few days,” she said.
“This is a sign that your body is responding well to the vaccine and mounting an immune response.”
“If you experience these symptoms after a vaccination our advice is to stay well hydrated and take simple over the counter pain relief such as paracetamol.”
“We will be continuing to call eligible individuals to attend for vaccination and I would strongly encourage you to take up the offer when called.”
The programme is running seven days a week.
Anyone who has not been offered an appointment and is concerned they may have been missed can contact the COVID-19 vaccination team on covid19@gha.gi.
People are being asked to call 200 66966 only if they are unable to email.
