Over £23,000 left on GMF wristbands

More than £23,000 was left on wristbands following the Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 by festival goers who had initially been promised a refund.

The Gibraltar Government said the money would be donated to charity and is currently considering which organisations it will go to.

Organisers of GMF 2015 introduced a cashless payment system whereby festival goers collected their wristband upon entry to the event and loaded it up with cash which they could use to buy food, drink and merchandise at the bars and stalls.

Festival-goers were initially told that any money left on the wristbands would be refunded. But a major backlash ensued on social media when this turned out not to be the case.
