Port’s longest-serving employee retires after 44 years
The Gibraltar Port Authority’s longest serving member of staff, Derek Hernandez, recently retired from the GPA after 44 years of service.
Mr Hernandez joined the Port Department, now the Gibraltar Port Authority, in 1974 at the age of 15 as a Seaman and retires as a Port Officer.
He is the longest serving member of staff and his experience and knowledge has been invaluable to the Port and his colleagues throughout his long career, the GPA said in a statement.
“On behalf of everyone at the Gibraltar Port Authority, Manuel Tirado, CEO and Captain of the Port took the opportunity to thank Derek for his service and wished him a long and happy retirement.”
