Promotions at Gibraltar Fire and Rescue Service

Following a recent meeting of the promotional boards held at the Government’s Human Resources Department, Leading Firefighter Dino Navarro has been promoted to the rank of Sub Officer and Firefighter Wayne Cruz has been promoted to the rank of Leading Firefighter.

Both are from the operations department of the Gibraltar Fire and Rescue Service.

Sub Officer Navarro joined the organisation in September 2004. Mr Navarro is the Officer-In-Charge of the GFRS Rope Rescue Section and one of the Rope Rescue Instructors.

He is responsible for ensuring the operational readiness of GFRS Rope Rescue Operators and equipment, amongst other equally important operational specialist tasks applicable to his rank.

Leading Firefighter Cruz joined the GFRS in April 2005 and has performed in this role on numerous occasions through acting-up duties prior to this permanent appointment.

He will be taking up duties within White Watch and like all the other recently promoted colleagues, will soon be attending the Incident Command Level 1 course at the Fire Service College. This will provide him with a solid foundation to lead his crews through challenging situations.
