RGP’s people management is gold standard
The Royal Gibraltar Police has been awarded the prestigious Investors in People Gold accreditation.
Investors in People (IIP) is the international standard for people management, defining what it takes to lead, support and manage people effectively to achieve sustainable results.
Following a rigorous assessment conducted by an IIP Assessor, that included lengthy interviews with a cross-section of the force, the RGP now forms part of the 6% of top organisations globally, and has also joined a small elite group of top organisations in Gibraltar that have achieved the IIP GOLD standard.
The Gold standard is only awarded to organisations that can demonstrate excellence in developing and supporting their staff. The RGP was required to meet a minimum of 165 evidence based criteria that included commitment to our organisation’s values, personal development, equality, diversity and social responsibility.
“This is a signal honour for the RGP, and we’re absolutely delighted to have been awarded the Investors in People GOLD Standard. This is a fantastic result and the visiting assessor was most complimentary in the feedback, noting that the work that has been carried out over the last 3 years is to be applauded,” Commissioner of Police Eddie Yome said.
“This award is a testament to all the dedicated men and women, police officers and civilian support staff members alike that make up this wonderful organisation I am privileged to lead. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to our project team, who have gone above and beyond to achieve this accolade.”
“We will now continue working unabated on this journey of continuous improvement,” Mr Yome said.
The RGP, who were first accredited as Investors in People in 2008 and awarded the IIP “Bronze” accreditation in 2012, were recently assessed against a framework comprising four levels of accreditation, namely, Accredited, Bronze, Silver and Gold.
Underpinning the Standard is the Investors in People framework, reflecting the latest workplace trends, essential skills and effective structures required to outperform in any industry. IIP enables organisations to benchmark against the best in the business on an international scale.
With a community of 14,000 organisations across 75 countries, successful accreditation against the IIP Standard is the sign of a great employer, an outperforming place to work and a clear commitment to sustained success.
Based on a tried and tested framework and a rigorous process of assessment, organisations that meet the Investors in People Standard proudly display their accreditation to the world because they understand that it’s people that make the difference.
First developed in 1991, the IIP standard has evolved to keep pace with modern practices, with the current sixth generation launched internationally in 2015.
It has grown to be the United Kingdom’s leading people management business improvement standard, with over 22,000 businesses in London and the South East alone now accredited with the Bronze, Silver and Gold awards.
