Rick Astley will perform at Gibraltar Calling

Eighties superstar Rick Astley will bring his greatest hits to the main stage at Gibraltar Calling this September.

He will perform on the Gibraltar Calling main stage on Sunday evening before Take That.

The English singer, songwriter and radio personality is well-known for his 1987 song ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ which made it to Number One in 25 countries and won the 1988 Brit Award for Best British Single.

By the time of his retirement in 1993, Mr Astley sold approximately 40 million records worldwide, until he made an internet comeback in 2007.

In his latest album, Beautiful Life, he wrote every song, played every instrument and sang every note himself about his obsession with music, his love for his wife and family, and his love of life itself.

“It has been a beautiful life," Mr Astley said.

“Maybe it didn't start out that way. There's been tough times. But I've got so much to be thankful for.”

This summer he has playing stadium shows as support to Take That and will once again take up that role in Gibraltar.

Gibraltar Calling will be held on September 7 and 8.
