An exhibition explaining plans for a liquefied natural gas storage facility opens in the John Mackintosh Hall today and aims to both inform the community and collect feedback for the environmental impact assessment [EIA] element of the planning process.

The exhibition is being hosted by Royal Dutch Shell and Environmental Resource Management, the company conducting the EIA.

Executives from both companies will be available at the exhibition to answer questions and speak to any member of the public seeking more information on the Gibraltar LNG project.

Nicky Crawford, Partner at Environmental Resource Management and Director for EIA, said that, in the process of setting the detailed parameters for the EIA, public consultation will be reflected in the final report.

“This public consultation process will be tied into the EIA assessment, so the more feedback that we get the better,” she said.

“We hope this will go some way towards reassuring the public on any concerns they may have.”
