UK MPs vow to uphold Gibraltar’s right to self-determination
UK MPs are “determined” to continue to defend Gibraltar’s right to self-determination in the Rock’s post-Brexit future, Sir Bob Neill, the Tory chairman of the Gibraltar all-party group in the House of Commons, said on National Day.
In a pre-recorded message, Sir Bob, a stalwart friend of Gibraltar who visits Gibraltar on September 10 every year, said the UK and Gibraltar would “stand together” outside the EU.
Sir Bob marked National Day with a small gathering at Gibraltar House in London attended by key MPs who have fought Gibraltar’s corner for many years.
“It's been a tough year for all of us, and nowhere tougher, I know, than some of the issues you’ve dealt with on the Rock,” he said.
“But whether it’s the pandemic, whether it’s the challenges of Brexit, whether it’s any other future challenges that are thrown at us, one thing that we are all sure of is that we stand together.”
