Westminster petition formally laid in Parliament

The Representation in Westminster Movement recently delivered a petition signed by 14,000 people to the Gibraltar Parliament, where it was formally laid by the Chief Minister and supported by all MPs.

Of the signatories to the petition, over 11,500 signatures were from British citizens in Gibraltar.

The petition – copies of which was earlier this year delivered to No.10 Downing Street, to the Gibraltar Government and to the House of Commons - calls for Gibraltarians to be democratically represented in Westminster.

"Your petitioners’ request all members of Parliament to support the right of all Gibraltar British Citizens to be democratically represented in Westminster, to keep our attained autonomous powers as per our 2006 Constitution, our double lock on sovereignty and our Chief Minister will continue to be our spokesperson," the petition reads.
