2,000km for charity in a 1929 Ford

Larry Riches drove his classic car – a 1929 Ford Model A - over 2,000 kilometres to Gibraltar from Gibraltar Point near Skegness last week to be a part of the 15th anniversary of the Gibraltar International Classic and Vintage Car Rally on Saturday. ‘Larry’s epic journey’ has so far helped to raise some £3,700 for the GBC Open Day.

Gibraltar saw over 100 classic cars taking part in what proved to be one of the biggest car rallies ever with the various associations all coming together.

The Gibraltar International Classic and Vintage Car Rally the event attracted cars from UK, France, Spain, Morocco and Germany.

From Gibraltar alone there were some 50 to 60 cars. GCVA joined forces with the Maroc-Atlas 4X4 Club and the Gibraltar Amateur Racing Club to celebrate World Heritage Motoring Year.

All displays at Ragged Staff, Piazza and Casemates attracted many people throughout the morning.

“It has been quite a successful day and we need more space,” President of the association Howard Danino said on Saturday confident that the rally could attract more entries in future.
