Identity riddle as Chinese migrants languish in Windmill Hill

Mystery still surrounds the identities of three Chinese nationals who are thought to be the victims of human trafficking and have been detained at Windmill Hill Prison since August.

The case has been before the courts on numerous occasions with seemingly little progress made as the men continue to languish in prison, their detention orders extended time and time again.

Now, defence lawyer Francis Borastero Porter said he will bring an application to have the men released should no progress have been made when the case is next before the Magistrates Court on Tuesday February 2.

The Royal Gibraltar Police have been liaising with the Chinese authorities to try and establish the men’s identities.

They have twice given officers their details but, prosecutors said, these have turned out to be false. Mr Borastero Porter said his clients insist they have provided the correct details.
