Gibraltar Calling to pay tribute to Queen

Gibraltar Calling will pay tribute this year to the life and works of Freddie Mercury and Queen, with tribute band Killer Queen set to perform on the Rock.

The tribute band played its first show nearly three decades ago and never looked back.

Patrick Myers, the lead singer of Killer Queen, said: “It's been an amazing journey. That first show back in June 1993 changed my life.”

“We thought our band would last maybe a summer at the most but it's a very addictive thing performing these songs.”

“The concerts grew and grew and we've ended up playing and selling out the same arenas that Queen played at their peak.”

“It's been quite a surreal ride. Becoming regular performers at Red Rocks Arena in America is another highlight. The Beatles, U2, Springsteen, Dylan all played on that stage. It's really got its own kind of magic going on there.”

This year sees the band's fourth and biggest 10-week US tour as well headlining across Europe, Scandinavia and Russia.

The band looks forward to presenting its fast-paced high energy show on the classic stage at Gibraltar Calling on Sunday September 8.
