RGP officers head Queen’s Birthday Honours 2016

Royal Gibraltar Police Officers, Chief Inspector John Caruana and Police Constable John Ballantine, have both been awarded Overseas Territories Medals (OTM) (Police) in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours list. Both receive their awards for services to policing on the Rock.

The Governor has also awarded the Gibraltar Award (the Governor's Certificate and Badge of Honour) in recognition of exceptional services in Gibraltar to Antonio Almeida for services to the Sea Scouts, Robert Pugh for services to Karate-do-Shotokai, and Ivan Navas for services to the Gibraltar Branch of the European Movement and Education.

Governor Edward Davis said he was delighted to congratulate all those who had been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

“The high quality of the nominations that we received is a reflection of the excellent work that goes on throughout the community,” he said.

Meanwhile in the UK list, Professor Ian Gerrard Peate, a visiting Professor from St. Georges, University of London and Kingston University and head of School of Health Studies in Gibraltar has been awarded an OBE for services to Nursing and Nurse Education.
