At 60, local runner completes marathon in under four hours

Local grandfather Ernest Gracia, 60, recently ran the London City Marathon in under four hours, an achievement that only a quarter of the race runners attain.

Mr Gracia’s official time was three hours, 58 minutes and five seconds, and was achieved by “pure willpower” in addition to training correctly and being disciplined.

Mr Gracia ran the marathon to raise money for Children With Cancer UK and to date has successfully raised £2,300.

“I want to thank everyone who so generously sponsored me this year,” he said yesterday.

“Much more important than any personal running achievement is the fund raising side – seeking out donations for worthy causes that bring about benefit to those in need of help.”

“The people of Gibraltar, its business community and different entities at large are to be most deservedly praised for their great generosity.”
