BEACH VOLLEYBALL
Volunteers of the summer sports programme alongside the national team volleyball coach and players have completed a course on how to manage, format and coach basic skills on beach volleyball. The course was conducted by FIVB instructors visiting Gibraltar on Eastern Beach in conjunction with the Gibraltar Volleyball Association and the GSLA as part of a global promotion of volleyball worldwide after a decline in player numbers globally. The FIVB is assisting the GVA through its development programmes in creating the foundations to form a beach volleyball league locally with a view to getting players, coaches and organisers ready for the2019 NatWest Island Games which will feature beach volleyball instead of the standard volleyball. An intense one week course combining lectures and practical skills and training was conducted by the FIVB instructor, a former beach volleyball professional. Pic: S. Ignacio.
