Bike ride puts focus on Alzheimer’s
A group of five riders arrived on the Rock this week having travelled 859 miles from Santander to Gibraltar on two stroke motorbikes to raise money for The Alzheimer’s Society.
Upon arrival, Mayor Kaiane Aldorino Lopez greeted them at City Hall and exchanged gifts.
Organising the challenge were Bryan and Jenny Clark, with Mr Clark on his 1959 Montesa Brio and Mrs Clark on her KE 175, Steve Tuchner on a 1976 B120 Suzuki, Tony Wheeler on a 1974 F7 Kawasaki and Chris Porter in the support vehicle carrying spare parts.
Mr and Mrs Clark both lost a parent to Alzheimer’s and the aim of the challenge was to make sure dementia remains a national priority by raising fund and awareness.
The group drove with the bikes on a trailer to Santander and took eight days to ride down through Spain to Gibraltar.
At present the group have raised over £3,000, but, they are hoping to raise £3,500.
