Eurocity project decision deferred by DPC

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

No decision was made on the Eurocity “affordable” development during yesterday’s meeting of the Development and Planning Commission, with the developers invited to take on board comments made during the meeting and return with revised plans.

In addition to the developers, three objectors addressed the Commission on the application.

Two architects for the developers jointly spoke and informed the DPC that four different firms and other specialists had been working together to create Eurocity.

Answering questions from the Commission, they said that at present they could not say what the energy rating of the building would be but both solar panels and green roofs will be used, in addition, there would be electric car points.

They were unable to answer Dr John Cortes’s question as to what price was deemed as “affordable”.

Dr Cortes also asked how many floors could be knocked off to still make the project viable.

He was told that the design aimed to provide space between the towers as opposed to a block and that it also incorporated ample public space.
