Evans claims podium just ahead of Small States Championships

Abigail Evans was to claim first place in the senior female category in the VIII Cross de las Cuestas this weekend.
Evans, among the runners selected to represent Gibraltar in the one day Small States Championships which is to be held at Lathbury Sports Complex this weekend prepares for her debut wearing the Gibraltar colours with a victory in a 6km race with a time of 28.49.
Other Gibraltar runners participating and achieving notable results were Silvija Desoiza who finished first in masters female category. Stephanie Campbell was also to finish first in her age category and Georgina Morello was to finish third in the female masters category.
The GAAA hosts this coming week Small States of Europe Championship with some 200 athletes from across 16 states, plus guest team from the Vatican City converging on the Rock for both track and field events.
