GBC raises over £120,000

Gibraltar once again went all out to support the traditional GBC Open Day raising so far £121,559. The final figure won’t be known for some time it is very likely to top last years of over £30,000.

Gerard Teuma , CEO of GBC, described it as “an absolutely fabulous amount of money”.

Radio Gibraltar alone broke its all-time record during the day by raising over £40,000 at the Piazza.

“Having spent the entire day in Main Street with the team, it was gratifying to see so many people coming to see us and donating so generously. The atmosphere was fantastic – a lovely community spirit. And, this continued through in to the evening at the John Mackintosh Hall where the TV show took place, and where many people gathered to take part in the treasure hunt organised by the Scouts.”

Mr Teuma said the feedback on the show had been very positive – “viewers have enjoyed it, which is what we want.  Open Day is about enjoying the radio and TV specials, and of course about raising money for worthy causes.”
