Gibraltar and Wales explore Brexit challenges

Britain will not allow the Brexit process to be used as an opportunity to push a co-sovereignty proposal rejected by Gibraltar, Robin Walker, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department for Exiting the European Union, told a meeting of the British Irish Parliamentary Assembly in Wales yesterday.

His comments came as a government delegation from Gibraltar led by deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia met with the First Minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones, on the sidelines of the assembly to discuss Brexit and shared opportunities.

"This visit to Wales and the meeting with the First Minister must be seen against the background of the Government continuing to do everything possible to protect the position of Gibraltar in the context of the planned departure of the United Kingdom from the EU,” Dr Garcia told the Chronicle.
