Gibraltar claims first victory in both men and women FIBA competitions

Gibraltar's senior men's basketball team claimed their first victory after beating Moldova 102-96 in their first match in the FIBA European for Small Countries held in San Marino.
Gibraltar, who have travelled with four foreign nationals within their squad, saw Spanish national Miguel Ortega awarded the top performer of the match for Gibraltar with 33 points to his name.
Gibraltar will next play Norway this Wednesday.
The ladies were also successful in their first match being played in Ireland with a 70-64 win against Moldova. Once again it was a Spanish national, Marta Perez, who travels with the squad, who was named top performer for Gibraltar by FIBA official stats claiming 21 points, four assists and five rebounds. Gibraltarian Joelle Moreno, who returned to the squad was top scorer for Gibraltar with 25 points.
The ladies next play Denmark this Wednesday.
