James Neish leaves GBC

Well-known local broadcaster James Neish, the Head of Radio and Online at GBC, is leaving the corporation to pursue other challenges.

As of next month Ian Daniels will take on the role as GBC’s new Head of Radio, in a promotion from his previous role as Deputy Head.

A statement from GBC said Mr Neish’s decision to leave came as a surprise to all at Broadcasting House, where he will be sorely missed.

“James has been a natural in every sphere of his work as a broadcaster, and having grown up within the GBC family has most definitely left his mark at Broadcasting House,” said GBC CEO Gerard Teuma.

“We must respect James’ choice to move on, and I can only wish him well in whatever path he now chooses to follow.”

“It has been a privilege to work with him. Equally, I welcome Ian into our management team and look forward to working closely with him in the further development of our radio services”.

Mr Neish has been employed at the corporation for 20 years and said it had been an honour to serve Gibraltar.

“I have had twenty incredibly rewarding years at GBC and achieved things both on and off-air that I am immensely proud of,” Mr Neish said.

“What a ride, from TV production to radio, then news, and the last four years as Head of Radio and Online. It has been an honour to serve this wonderful community through my work and I could not have wished for better opportunities - it has been exciting and fascinating.”

“However, I feel the time is right for me to make a change and pursue other challenges. This has been an extremely difficult decision to take and one I have thought about at length.”

“I am very lucky to have the full support of my family, friends and colleagues as I move on to another chapter in my life. I am extremely proud to have worked for GBC and it will always remain a special part of me.”
