London showcase for local artist Maribel Matthews

Local artist Maribel Matthews will be exhibiting her newest works at a collective exhibition at the Coningsby Gallery in London this week.

In the years since becoming a professional artist in 2003 Ms Matthews has evolved her style from that of classical, to impressionist and now expressionist.

Her newest works in this expressionist style sets out to raise awareness about the environment.

“My new collection Is meant to instil an awareness of how environmental excesses impact on our planet’s weather and climate,” Ms Matthews said.

“It is in an expressionist style and quite different to any of my previous works.”

Ms Matthews had been invited by the Coningsby Gallery to exhibit her work and was “delighted” to accept.

In the past Ms Matthews has exhibited her works at the Clarendon in the Gibraltar Artists Exhibition during Gibraltar week, and also at the Strand, in Gibraltar House, for collective exhibition called ‘Useless Mouths’.

She has also exhibited her work in New York and Switzerland.

In 2017 she exhibited at the New York Gallery in an exhibition titled ‘unbound perspectives’, and again in 2018 with ‘Spring Awakenings’.

Last year she also exhibited at an Expo in New York and at the Basel Biennale in Switzerland.

The London exhibition opens tomorrow and will be on show until January 12. The Gallery is situated in Tottenham Street, Fitzrovia, London.
