Maestro Chichon makes his debut at New York’s Metropolitan Opera House

Gibraltarian conductor Maestro Karel Chichon has made his debut in one of the world's most prestigious opera houses, the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. On Tuesday he conducted Puccini's Madame Butterfly and returns again this Saturday night with a cast including Ricardo Lugo as Bonzo, Roberto de Biasio as Pinkerton, Ana Maria Martinez as Cio-Cio-San, Rocinski as Sharpless, and Tyler Duncan as Yamadori. In all Maestro Chichon will conduct 13 performances until mid-April. Anthony Minghella's production, which has thrilled audiences ever since its premiere in 2006, returned to  the stag last Friday.

"Any conductor or singer will tell you - this is the stage you want to set foot on. This is your dream, your goal," Maestro Chichon said from New York.

"When that dream is achieved with the knowledge that you have not only conducted here, but will have a significant presence in their season through many performances and a HD transmission, the only icing the cake is to be surrounded by such wonderful colleagues and working professionals in an opera house where quality is the priority," he adds.
