Manar takes her MED steps challenge to the Alameda Gardens

Young Guider, 22 year old Manar Bentahayekt, is on track to complete her challenge to fully climb the Med Steps on April 9.  Manar who has Cerebral Palsy has been training for the past year with the help of Kenneth Cardona, Guides Commissioner Valerie Makey and her friends. Yesterday a new friend joined her on a train session around the Alameda Botanic Gardens. The Governor’s wife, Lorraine Davis, was delighted to join Manar and her team to further encourage her on her challenge. Manar’s main reason for undergoing this challenge is to show that having a physical disability does not stop you from achieving any goal. It also forms part of her Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award in which she has to complete the physical section.  Pic: Johnny Bugeja
