Mascarenhas retires after 21 years at the Chronicle
Alice Mascarenhas, the Chronicle’s deputy Editor, retired yesterday after 21 years of service to the newspaper.
Ms Mascarenhas, a prominent figure in local journalism throughout her professional career, joined the Chronicle as Features Editor after 20 years in broadcasting and theatre.
She was instrumental in setting up the Chronicle’s feature section and played a central role in overseeing the newspaper’s colour redesign several years ago.
Best known for her coverage of this community’s social and cultural life, Ms Mascarenhas retires from her editing role but not from journalism.
After a short break, she plans to continue writing and will contribute a weekly column and regular features to the Chronicle.
Gabriella Peralta, a Chronicle journalist who has worked closely alongside Ms Mascarenhas since joining the newspaper three years ago, has been appointed Features Editor.
