Med Steps 5 Challenge aims to smash fundraising record

Organisers of the Med Steps 5 Challenge are aiming to smash their fund-raising effort this and have called on the community to back the event with the slogan: ‘Make us your New Year resolution’.

This year’s event on May 18 marks the fifth edition of the challenge and all funds will go to the Cancer Relief Centre.

The Med Steps 5 crew is urging local businesses, clubs, families and individuals to get involved and make this year the biggest event to date.

“Cancer affects us all and this event is done to support the hard and important work the staff at the Cancer Relief Centre does for our community,” the organisers said.

“It is amazing to see every year people getting together and have a great day out and enjoying the positive vibes around them.”

“You do not need to do the steps five times, you may only want to do it once, it is up to the individual on their personal challenge they want to set.”

This year organisers are encouraging people to open up a JustGiving page, as last year over £13,000 was raised via this medium.

As an incentive, any person or team raising over £100 per person by using a JustGiving page for the Gibraltar Cancer Relief Centre as part of the Med Steps 5 Challenge will not need to pay the £10 registration fee.

As in previous editions, there will be team competition centered on a relay between five runners and an individual competition, as well as the non-competitive category.

The organisers will be announcing other initiatives soon via their Facebook page and Twitter account.

The event, which is organised by the Prison Service Staff, is sponsored by Argus and Image Graphics.
