Miss Gibraltar 2016 recruitment begins today

Today sees the start of the recruitment campaign for  Miss Gibraltar 2016. This year the pageant will be held at the John Mackintosh Hall Theatre at the beginning of June.

Gibraltar Cultural Services, on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, is again inviting young ladies to sign up for the pageant and all contestants must sign on by Friday 12 of next month.

This year the pageant will be produced by Stage One.

James Neish, Stage One director, explained that the recruitment campaign falls under the remit of the Gibraltar Cultural Services.

“They handle the official recruitment and we as organisers are of course ready to answer any queries, if necessary. I’m always available for a chat (info@stageone.gi) but in the first instance girls should contact the Miss Gibraltar office on 200 67236.”

Recruitment is not always easy but Mr Neish says that every year is different and the number of entries is as always uncertain.

“Interest varies from year to year and there is no rule. This year however there have already been a number of enquiries ahead of the official start of recruitment, so that’s encouraging.  I hope it now translates into women signing on as from today,” he adds.

The current Miss Gibraltar 2015 is Hannah Bado, she has recently returned from the Miss World pageant in  China.

“So many girls dream of entering Miss Gibraltar and performing live on a stage, but to actually do it yourself is something magical,” she says.

“The adrenaline and atmosphere both on stage and backstage is what keeps you going throughout the night. Some people may be dancers or singers, but for those who enjoy modelling and feeling confident in their own skin and willing to represent Gibraltar, it’s the perfect opportunity.”

Hannah Bado says there were many favourite moments from 2015 spent in the Miss Gibraltar contest.
