New Central Police station in the ‘heart of the community’

Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and the Minister for Justice Gilbert Licudi yesterday inaugurated the new Central Police Station in Casemates in the presence of the Commissioner of Police Eddie Yome.

Mr Licudi recalled that there has been a police force in Gibraltar for many years and it was set up a year after Sir Robert Peel set up the Metropolitan Police over 150 years.

Over the years, the location of the central police station has changed but for many years it was in Irish Town, then for a brief time within the City Hall and now it has a new home in Casemates.
