Panorama poll points to Alliance win

The GSLP/Liberal Alliance has topped a Panorama opinion poll and would secure 10 seats in Parliament in tomorrow’s general election, with the GSD winning six Opposition seats and Together Gibraltar also obtaining one MP.

The results, which were published yesterday, mirror a Gibraltar Chronicle opinion poll last week, albeit with different margins.

According to the Panorama’s poll, the Alliance will win the general election with 54% of the vote.

The Chronicle’s poll, which was published last week, had this same result at a margin of 63.5%.

The GSD’s share of the vote is proportionately higher in the Panorama poll at 28% compared with 21.7% in the Chronicle opinion poll.

Together Gibraltar takes 17% in the Panorama’s poll and 14.1% in the Chronicle poll.

The Independent candidates contesting the election take a collective one per cent according to the Panorama result.

In the Chronicle’s poll Robert Vasquez and John Charles Pons secured 0.4% and 0.3% of the vote respectively.

If both polls prove to be accurate, GSD MP Trevor Hammond would lose his seat.

In terms of the final position of candidates in the Panorama poll Fabian Picardo tops the Alliance list followed by Joseph Garcia, John Cortes, Albert Isola, Sir Joe Bossano, Gilbert Licudi, Steven Linares, Samantha Sacramento, Vijay Daryanani and Paul Balban.

GSD Leader Mr Azopardi secures the top Opposition spot followed by Daniel Feetham, Roy Clinton, Damon Bossino, Elliott Phillips and Edwin Reyes.

Freddie Ballester, Joelle Ladislaus and Orlando Yeats would not secure seats in addition to Mr Hammond.

Together Gibraltar Leader Marlene Hassan Nahon cuts into the GSD list at 16th place in the Panorama poll, but no one else in her party would secure a seat according to the survey.
