Processionary caterpillar traps laid at Alameda Gardens

The Alameda Gardens has laid traps in trees for pine processionary caterpillars which can be harmful to humans and animals.
This is the first time these ecological traps have been laid.
The traps will also serve to protect the trees from the caterpillars.
Pine processionary caterpillars are one of the most destructive species to pines in southern Europe. The caterpillars are recognisable through their 'urticating hairs' which cause harm and irritation.
