The pupils were taught about healthy eating from members of the Children, Healthy and Active! Multi-agency Programme [CHAMP].

The children were shown unhealthy foods such as sugary drinks and sweet, and taught about healthier alternatives such as water and fruit.

A selection of fruits and vegetables were then presented to the pupils to taste.

Also joining the initiative was GibSams, a local helpline service, which has recently launched the ‘Chatty Café Scheme’.

This scheme sees designated ‘chatty’ tables at local cafes where people can sit down and socialise. The aim of the scheme is to combat loneliness.

Chairperson of GibSams Marielou Guerrero gave a presentation at the school and announced the Chatty Café Scheme has been extended to the school playground as Chatter Natter Benches.

Each year group is being given a bench to design with the idea that pupils can use that bench to socialise rather than sit by themselves.

As part of the well-being event the pupils were taught about gardening and learnt about tress, they also participated in mindful colouring, a wellness wall, dramatherapy and fitness sessions.
