Resurfaced runway delivered on budget and two weeks early
Works to resurface the runway at the Gibraltar airport have been completed two weeks early and on budget.
This, the Commander British Forces Gibraltar Commodore Ian McGhie proudly declared as the runway was formally handed over both himself and the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia by contractors Lagan at a ceremony within the RAF base last Friday.
All officials at the ceremony hailed the project a success and Commodore McGhie highlighted that “74,000 man hours were dedicated to resurfacing the runway….all done without a single reported accident.”
“And get this, a MoD project that was delivered two weeks early and to budget. I never thought I’d hear myself say that so I will say it again, it was delivered two weeks early and to budget.”
